New artwork “Country life”
In the end of the XIX and the beginning of the XX century, Moscovites preferred to spend their summers in picturesque areas of the countryside with rivers, woods and fields.
Wealthy people built their summer homes, while the intelligentsia often rented mansion, cottages or rooms.
Once Anton Chekhov rented a wing of the Kiselevs’ mansion in the village of Babkino near Voskresensk town.
The work doesn’t hold an accurate link to the Chekhov’s biography, but a fleeting glance at the time when Moscow area country life had friendly and heartily atmosphere of games, entertainment and leisurely strolls and the air was fresh and filled with lilac fragrance.
